Battery 100%: We're Back – and How Full Is Your Battery?

3 min read

Today is Friday, 16 October 2026, and our break is over. Since 4 October, twelve days in all, we were closed for our company holiday. Yesterday was the last day, and for today we have one number: 100%.

The number in the corner

Every phone shows it in the top corner: how full the battery is. At 9% we know at once what to do. For ourselves there is no display. That is why a phrase has caught on in recent years: the “social battery”. It describes the feeling of having sometimes more and sometimes less energy for other people.

Important: this is an image, not a measurement. Nobody can tell you whether you are at 63 or 64 percent. That is exactly why it is fun to guess anyway.

Our display

Our display says: full. We have recharged our batteries and we are back. From today, Friday, 16 October 2026, we are ready to welcome you and look after you, with a genuine smile and warm hospitality.

The Greeks have a word for it: philoxenia, literally something like “love of the stranger”. A genuine smile cannot be produced in power-saving mode. That is why the break was needed, and why we are looking forward to you.

Five ways to recharge

Anyone who knows a phone knows the charging modes. Here are five suggestions from us, made up and not scientific:

Fast charging: ten minutes that are enough, for example a coffee in the sun or a walk around the block.

Charging cable: one particular person next to whom your battery simply rises.

Power bank: something you always carry with you, a song, a ritual, a sentence.

Power-saving mode: do less, talk less, screen off.

Solar: light, air, water, everything that recharges you outdoors.

At the table, you recharge on the side

A long meal is a bit like power-saving mode without a screen: you sit, you share, you have time. Whether your battery stands higher after an evening at the table than before, only you can say. We do not claim it, we ask about it.

How to take part

Reply under the comment «My battery» with three things: your battery level in percent (a guess is fine), your way of charging, and one word that recharges you.

Three made-up examples from us, not real answers: “35% – power-saving mode – Sunday”, “90% – fast charging – espresso”, “60% – solar – water”.

We name nobody, unless you write that you would like to be named.

The big question: alone or together?

Do you recharge better alone or in company? The arguments of both sides, without measurements:

Team Alone: Quiet is the fastest charger. Nobody asks anything, nobody expects anything, and the battery rises because nothing is asked of you.

Team Together: A laugh at the table charges faster than any silence. Some people are the charging cable that only works in company.

Reply under the comment «The big question» with “Team Alone” or “Team Together”, with a sentence if you like.

There is no part 2

This time it stays one article. The answers stand under the article, and answer by answer a shared charging map grows there, open until New Year's Eve. How many answers will come, we do not know. That too is part of the display: it may be empty sometimes.

76 days until New Year's Eve

76 days until New Year's Eve. Today, Friday, 16 October 2026, we are back: Mastiha Berlin, Arndtstraße 12, Berlin-Kreuzberg.

We have recharged our batteries, we are back, and we welcome you with a genuine smile and warm hospitality. The next Drachma Festival comes in a year, as every year.
