Why We Celebrate Our Drachmen Fest Every Year

Every year on September 29, our taverna turns into a small window back into the 1960s for one evening — with live music, mezedes, and prices in drachmas. But there's one question we get asked every single time: "Do you actually miss the drachma?"

The honest answer: no, not in the slightest. We're not nostalgically attached to the old currency, and it's not about the money either — quite the opposite, we simply love laughing together, dancing, and being a little silly for one evening far more than thinking about coins. For us, the Drachmen Fest is simply an excuse for good spirits: a night where we all goof around a bit, look at old photos, dance sirtaki, and remember that celebrating doesn't have to be complicated.

That's why it has become a firm tradition for us to repeat this festival every year on September 29 — not out of longing for the past, but because it's simply fun to do something a little crazy together. The "drachma prices" on our special menu are a wink, not a serious statement about economic history.

So if you drop by on September 29: come not for nostalgia over old money, but for the good mood, the live music, and the excuse to be a little silly together for one evening.
